Area 51 Ultra Lounge

Area 51 Ultra Lounge is located on the second floor of the historical San Diego Hardware Building in the Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego and offers 5,000 sf of entertainment area, previously an empty office space.  Most hookah lounges downtown are congested cafe-style spaces with limited or no nightlife amenities, characteristics that these business owners did not want to repeat.  Working with interior designer Davis Krumins of Davis Ink, he captured this unique pairing of hookah delight with a nightclub atmosphere while embracing the futuristic appeal that Area 51 Ultra Lounge wanted to evoke.  Work included a new kitchen, custom built cushioned seating, mutli-colored LED lighting and wall papered walls, large serving bar, rotating deejay booth, offices and restroom renovations.  With their live entertainment permit and after-hours permit, Area 51 Ultra Lounge is the only nightclub downtown to extend the nightlife experience until 4am.  Additional improvements included seismic retrofits to the floor framing, extensive electrical and plumbing work, and a new hvac system.  Area 51 Ultra Lounge opened in June 2012.
